Holiday Guide: Grocers Offer Thanksgiving Carryout

Get anything from the turkey to the whole meal.

 

There is hope for those who are not gifted in the cooking department or who just don’t have time to put together a Thanksgiving holiday meal.

Area grocers and some restaurants offer turkey and all the trimmings for carryout.

  • Sunset Foods in Lake Forest and Libertyville offers Thanksgiving dinner carryout but orders must be placed by Nov. 22. Customers can get a whole Amish roasted turkey or just the breast. Choose from a variety of fruit and vegetable trays, cranberry dishes, stuffing, jello molds and desserts.
  • Piggly Wiggly in Grayslake offers a turkey dinner serving 8 to 10 people tat includes stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry-orange relish. It is $54.99.
  • Whole Foods in Deerfield offers an Organic Traditional Meal, but the last day to order is Monday, Nov. 21. There are a variety of choices including the organic dinner for $159.99, the petite turkey dinner that serves  2 to 4 people for $89.99, and the Vegan Holiday Dinner that is $14.99 per serving
  • Dominicks in Lake Bluff offers The Complete Thanksgiving Dinner for $39.99, the Spiral Ham Dinner for $49.99 and Prime Rib Dinner for $69.99. All prices are with your Dominick's card. The turkey dinner features a 10 to 12-pound bird that serves 6 to 8, sides and a pumpkin pie. The 7-pound spiral ham serves 6 to 8, sides and apple pie. The 4-pound prime rib serves 4 to 5, sides and an apple pie.
