Jeff Silver to Discuss Entrepreneurship in Lake Forest

The Lake Forest Business + Technology Incubator will host its Fall Innovation Speaker Series featuring Jeff Silver at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Gorton Community Center. Silver will discuss his passion for entrepreneurship and Coyote Logistics.  The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. 

Silver is the founder and chief executive officer of Chicago-based Coyote Logistics, one of the fastest-growing third-party logistics companies in North America. Prior to starting Coyote in 2006, he pioneered the third-party logistics (3PL) industry in the 1980s and 1990s with American Backhaulers, the second-largest North American freight brokerage at the time.  

In 2011, Silver was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Midwest category, and Coyote was named to the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies for the second year in a row.

In 2012, Coyote was ranked #1 on Crain’s Chicago Business Fast Fifty List; voted the #1 midsize workplace by the Chicago Tribune for the second year in a row; received the Chicago Innovation Award for its Private Fleet service; named to Inc. Magazine’s Hire Power Awards list and ranked as one of Forbes Most Promising Companies.  

Silver serves on the boards for Lake Forest Academy and Northwestern University Transportation Center. He earned an MBA from University of Michigan and a master’s degree of engineering in logistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
