Lake Bluff Brewing Wins 'Pale Ale Smackdown'

'Chicago Magazine' was gracious enough to taste test microbrews from across the area. Lake Bluff brewing won first place for pale ale, in a tie, and got an honorable mention for its porter.

Chicago Magazine took on the enviable task of naming the best beers in the Chicago area — which now boasts more than 60 microbreweries — and Lake Bluff Brewing Co.'s "gamma ray" emerged the winner in a tie with Lincoln Square's Half Acre for the best pale ale.

Fresh off the Highwood Craft Beer Festival, Lake Bluff Brewing walked off with the title, awarded by a three-person panel of beer experts, and also got an honorable mention for its "velvet hammer" porter.
