  • Where/When: Village Green - Southwest Corner of Scranton & Center Ave; 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7).The final Lake Bluff Farmer's Mark will be Oct. 14.
  • Why Go?: Enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, summer blossoms and delicious baked goods at the 18th annual Lake Bluff Farmers' Market. Park near the Central Business District at the Walnut Avenue Parking Lot, the Train Station Lot and at Artesian Park.

  • Where / When: ; 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday (Oct. 7-8), 3 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 9).
  • Why Go?: Classic thriller, professionally staged production of the 1966 Broadway hit and 1967 film starring Audrey Hepburn. Audience members will be on the edge of their seats with the suspense and drama in this script. Read our review.

  • Why Go?: A weekly series of fast-paced hikes through a different forest preserve each week - this weekend spotlights Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve in Lake Forest. No registration is necessary.
  • Pricing: $1 for Lake County residents; $2 for non-residents

  • Where/When: , behind City Hall, just off Deerpath; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 7).The final Lake Forest Farmer's Market is Oct. 27.
  • Why Go?: Local farmers and specialty merchants sell local produce, seasonal fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy products, and more. Local chefs will sell a variety of treats like cupcakes, pies, cookies, dips, salsas, homemade granola, homemade marshmallows and more. 
  • Pricing: Free admission.

 

5. Autumn Open House - Adler Center

  • Where / When: The David Adler Music and Arts Center, 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, 2-4 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 9).
  • Why Go?: Appropriate for all ages, visitors are welcome to stop in to tour the historic home of architect David Adler as they are entertained by faculty and student performances. Light refreshments will be available throughout and admission is free.
  • Pricing: Free.

 

6. Free International Film Series at College of Lake County

  • Where / When: 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake; 8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7).
  • Why Go?: The Center for International Education at the College of Lake County presents the CLC International Film Series for adults only. The films are free and will have subtitles when necessary. Friday night's movie is Lage Raho Munna Bhai (India, 2006).
