New Restaurant To Replace Townhouse

Village works with new owners. Townhouse closed Sunday.

will be replaced by a new Deerfield restaurant in the coming months, according to a sign on the existing eatery and Village officials.

“We are working with somebody,” Deerfield Planner Jean Spagnoli said. She cannot disclose the name of the establishment until it appears on the agenda of a public meeting. She did confirm it is a restaurant and bar.

A sign on Townhouse indicated the establishment’s owner, Restaurants America, closed the restaurant Sunday though the fixtures are visible through the windows a well as the outdoor tables and chairs remaining in place.

“As of Sunday, July 29, we are closing down Townhouse,” the sign read. “Deerfield, we want to thank you for the past amazing years we’ve been in this great community and wish Deerfield nothing but the best of luck.”

Lincolnshire and Vernon Hills must be chuckling. Nightlife, restaurants, and retail galore. What does Milwaukee Avenue have that Waukegan Road doesn't? Other than all of the above and the Marriot.

Each week we read of another closure. I'll probably get frosted for this, but has the Village considered a WalMart in the Great Outdoors space? I know about all the drama around Walmart coming into a town...but think of the tax revenue. Super Center, plenty of parking and destination. Closest is Wheeling or Niles. We need the revenue! As far as Townhouse, a Mexican restaurant would be nice to have in Deerfield. Something new. Tapas or Taqueria. Let's not get another Italian Restaurant....please!

Does anybody NOT know five people that are dying for a good mexican restaurant in this town? It's so obvious that it's maddening that it doesn't happen. Mexican. Thai. A reasonable chef that enjoys good local produce (hop on 94/hop off 94). Tapas. Almost anything with Gail Gand's name on it. Southern cuisine. Lettuce Entertain You ... and I'm not anything close to a foodie. Once again, like Deerbrook, can we get a little creative here?
