Plans for Lake Bluff Target Move Forward

First reading of development plan for new Target store gets village approval.

Lake Bluff is closer to getting its first big box store—Target.

Village officials unanimously approved the first reading of the proposed site plan at Monday's meeting, reported the Lake Forester.

A 139,000 square-foot Target store is to be built at the former Shepard Chevrolet property at 930 Carriage Park Ave., near Route 176 and Waukegan Road, along with outlets for a bank and other retail, reported Patch.

Last month, Lake Bluff officials approved a sales tax rebate of 50 percent. Through a 10-year agreement, Target could collect up to $4.2 million in tax rebates.

Trustees are expected to vote on a second reading of the site plan on June 24, according to the Lake Forester.
