Then, when you're done shopping, bring your flowers to the Village Green, where members of the will transform them into a hand-tied bouquet for mom.

The Lake Bluff Garden Club will hold its 50th Anniversary Garden Market. Pick up items like donated plants, designer baskets and even Praying Mantis bugs. You can also sign up to win prizes through the club's raffle. Plant sale profits will help fund beautification and conservation projects.

The will hold a Mother's Day Children's Concert and open house. The concert will take place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and will feature Bubbles Academy. Then, an open house will feature a free Mother's Day craft for children, Usborne book sale, a hydrangea plant sale and a bake sale. You can also get free gardening advice from .

 

Lake County Volunteers To Pack 100,000 Life-Saving Meals

500 Lake County volunteers will pack 100,000 life-saving meals for developing-world children Saturday at East Lake Academy in Lake Forest.  A collaboration between East Lake Academy and Feed My Starving Children will help ease famine. Volunteers will come from the community, churches, scouts and other groups for two-hour shifts.  After 15-minutes of training, they’ll place fortified soy, rice and vegetable meals into thousands of zip-lock packages. Packages will fill cartons, cartons be sealed and palletized, and everything readied for shipment to Asia, Africa or Latin America. Some volunteer positions are available

 

Gardeners of Central Lake County Annual Plant Sale

The Gardeners of Central Lake County will hold their annual plant sale. The sale will feature mature perennials, herbs, ground covers and more, all dug from local gardens. The event will be held rain or shine.

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will hold a compost bin and rain barrel sale. Quantities are limited. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover will be accepted for payment. The event will be held rain or shine.
