Start Mom's Day a Day Earlier With Kid Concert at Gorton Community Center

A free Mother's Day craft, flower and bake sale complete the event.

Mother’s Day is Sunday (May 8), and if you’re dreading brunch with the little ones, why not do something this weekend where noise and energy is welcomed and encouraged?

Kick off your Mother’s Day festivities a day early with a fun morning of music and motion from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday (May 7) at the in Lake Forest.

Brought to you by the Gorton Children’s Drop-In Center Parent Board and sponsored by , this special event will feature a Children’s Concert with local artists Teddi and Fred Koch.

Their musical program is perfect for the young ones, with plenty of singing, clapping, percussion and listening games. Fred Koch has been awarded the Parent’s Choice award multiple times for his children’s recordings, including the favorite “Did You Feed My Cow? – Fred Koch Presents The Songs of Ella Jenkins.”

Teddi is director and head teacher of the Music and Movement Center at Gorton. The concert starts at 10:30 a.m.

Little ones and parents alike are welcome to stay after the concert for a drop-in center open house featuring a free Mother’s Day craft as well as flower and bake sale. Scholastic BOGO Book Sales and Mrs. Sue’s Closet (with new and gently used clothing for sale) will also be on hand.

And while brunch is always a treat, there’s no gift better on Mother’s Day than the happiness (whine free) of her children.
