What Should Replace Dominick's in Lake Bluff?

Safeway, the parent company of Dominick's, announced last week that it will sell all 72 of its Chicago-area Dominick's stores.

That includes the one in Lake Bluff, located at 201 S. Waukegan Road, along with the Bannockburn store.

Around the Chicago area, competitor Jewel-Osco has already purchased four of the Dominick's stores, including one in Glenview, according to the Chicago TribuneMeanwhile, Cincinnati-based Kroger and Milwaukee-based Roundy's (owner of Chicago's Mariano's grocery stores) have expressed interest in purchasing several Dominick's, Crain's reports.

Besides Mariano's (which has stores in Vernon Hills, Palatine and Arlington Heights and is opening one in Skokie by 2015), another newcomer to the Chicago area market is Cleveland-based Heinen's Fine Foods, which has one location in Barrington and another coming to Glenview.

What would you like to see in place of the Lake Bluff Dominick's store? Do you hope it is replaced with another grocery store, or is there another business you'd like to see in that location? Tell us in the comment section below.
