West's Insurance Launches Unique In-Home Property Recording Program for Homeowners Insurance Customers

Personalized, Proactive Program Aims to Help Reduce Risk and Maximize Benefits

Gurnee, IL (June 28, 2013) – West’s Insurance Agency is proud to announce the launch of its innovative In-Home Property Recording program for their homeowners insurance customers.  The program, that consists of providing a video camera to select clients to thoroughly record the contents of their home, was created to ensure customers have adequate documentation, support a faster and more favorable claim recovery process and verify losses for tax purposes should damage or loss ever occur.

According to 2012 survey from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), 60% of Americans do not have a home inventory of their personal possessions, putting them at risk for inadequate insurance reimbursement.  Recognizing this significant gap, West's aim is to take a trusted, proactive approach to protecting families and helping them set a solid foundation for any future claim recovery.

How does the program work?  As a West customer, the insured is mailed a digital video camera and an extensive checklist to thoroughly and accurately document the contents of their home.  The checklist includes often overlooked areas and tips for thorough documentation.  When finished, the client simply returns the camera to West’s in the provided self-addressed, stamped envelope.  West's will then create two DVD copies, and the customer can choose whether to keep one of their two DVD copies (not to be viewed by West's) in the West's Agency safe and have the other returned to them or to have both private recordings returned to them to be stored at an off-site location of their choice.  Either way, these recordings are safe and available for easy retrieval should any damage or loss ever occur in the future.  For all new customers, the option is also available to review the recording with a West's agent to help determine adequate coverage levels.  In addition, having a through recording stored could also help reduce homeowner liability should an accident occur on-premise.
