The Great Snipe Hunt: Outdoor Theatre Hike
This weekend, Lake Forest's Citadel Theatre and Lake Forest Open Lands are partnering to deliver area residents a unique experience in offering the original work, MEH Lewis' The Great Snip Hunt'.
This weekend, Lake Forest's and the are partnering to deliver area residents a one-of-a-kind experience in offering the original work, MEH Lewis' THE GREAT SNIPE HUNT.'
This fun theatre hike will take place on the beautiful grounds of the Mellody Farms Nature Preserve, 350 N. Waukegan Road, in Lake Forest, and is geared toward children ages 5 and up.

Playing just this weekend only, tickets for shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. are available through the Citadel Theatre company box office for both Saturday and Sunday performances.
The play is the result of a great local collaboration between the artistic minds at the Citadel Theatre Company and the natural preservation trust of the Lake Forest Open Lands Association. This will be the fourth time these local non-profits have partnered to produce a theatre hike and everyone involved is raving about the chance to produce something special.

Heather Meyers is the directing the action: "I drove past Mellody Farms for several years before I discovered the hidden treasure just beyond the road of my daily grind" she said, "And now here I am creating art in this wonderful space. This project has given me an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with other local artists, allowed me to work close to home and share stories within my own community."
For Meyers and the actors from Citadel, taking theatre outside for a theatre hike is a different experience - and a fun one. Meyers said: It's wonderful to have a theater willing to think outside of the normal black box that is typical theater. And I’m even luckier to find a partner in the Open Lands willing to allow us to use the incredible backdrop of their land to bring you this tale."
The Great Snipe Hunt is a story of a brave girl who meets Fearsome Critters out in the Wild Woods and is full of mystical, magical, and silly encounters that are sure to thrill both the young and the young at heart.
