Lake Forest High School Senior to Compete in Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois statewide scholarship competition

Schaumburg, IL (August 2, 2013) – Lisa Bennatan of Lake Forest and other high school senior girls from across Illinois will join together in Schaumburg for the Distinguished Young Women of Illinois program to be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at Schaumburg High School Step Room #224. Participants will compete for college scholarships and the opportunity to represent the state as the Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois for 2014. 

The program is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door at $10 for adults and $5 for children and students. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

The eleven young women competing will be evaluated by a panel of five judges in the following categories: Scholastics (20%), Interview (25%), Fitness (15%), Self-Expression (15%) and Talent (25%). The participant selected as the Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois will advance to the national level at the 57th Distinguished Young Women National Finals in Mobile, Alabama on June 26, 27 and 28, 2014, where she will join with 49 other state representatives in competing for cash scholarships and the opportunity to represent the program as the Distinguished Young Woman of America.
