Downtown Lake Forest Comes Alive Friday; Organic Veggies, Flowers for Sale at Green Youth Farm

  • Where/When: ; 3:30 - 9 p.m. Friday (Aug. 5).
  • Why Go?: Join the at Market Square in downtown Lake Forest. Businesses will stay open later and many festivities are planned. Wine tasting, music and food. Artists painting out in the square. e will display pieces of art in store windows.
  • Pricing: Free admission.

  • Where/When: , behind City Hall, just off Deerpath; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 6).
  • Why Go?: Local farmers and specialty merchants sell local produce, seasonal fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy products, and more. Local chefs will sell a variety of treats like cupcakes, pies, cookies, dips, salsas, homemade granola, homemade marshmallows and more.
  • Pricing: Free admission.

  • Where/When: Village Green, Southwest Corner of Scranton & Center Ave in Lake Bluff; 6 - 7:30 p.m.; Sunday (Aug. 7).
  • Why Go?: Come to the Village Green for fun and entertainment for the whole family. The free concerts are funded by Baytree National Bank & Trust. Bluffington's will fire up their grill to cook some favorite picnic foods. The Ragtops, Chicago's favorite 50s and 60s Oldies Band performs.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Why Go?: Purchase fresh organic vegetables, flowers and herbs at the Green Youth Farm. About 16 local high school students learn gardening skills along with leadership, team building and practical job training by participating in this youth development program sponsored by the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Lake County Forest Preserve District. Proceeds from the sale of the fresh produce benefits the teen leadership summer program. Enter the Greenbelt Forest Preserve from the west side of Green Bay Road.
  • Pricing: Free admission.

  • Why Go?: Shop for fresh fruits, vegetables, summer blossoms and delicious baked goods at the 18th annual Lake Bluff Farmers' Market. Park near the Central Business District at the Walnut Avenue Parking Lot, the Train Station Lot and at Artesian Park.
  • Pricing: Free admission.
