Gain Great Planting Advice at Pasquesi's on Saturday

After months of gray skies and brown landscapes, our neighborhoods are waking up. And so is our desire to plant and grow. Before you dig in this spring, treat yourself to some local inspiration.

Sneak out Saturday to in Lake Bluff to receive some expert advice on growing plants that will truly thrive in our zone. Nationally known garden expert Melinda Myers (www.melindamyers.com) will lead a free seminar on “Well Loved Illinois Garden Plants” from 11 a.m. to noon April 16, with a question-answer period immediately following.

Myers has published 20 plus books on gardening, hosts “Great Lakes Gardener” on PBS, as well as a syndicated radio show and television program aired on 50 networks.

If you’re less inclined to be hands-on, stop by Twigs in Lake Bluff for some seasonal inspiration for your home. Opened in 2009 by Jeannie Fanning, Twigs takes a fresh and contemporary spin on the traditional English floral arrangement, featuring whatever is new and unusual, and always beautiful.

If fauna is your thing, Fanning also offers a wide assortment of topiaries, with myrtle, rosemary and ivy. And if you’re looking to outsource your outdoor spring pots, Twigs is happy to make housecalls.
