Lake Bluff Library Unveils New Look, Help Save-A-Pet Raise Funds

  • Why Go?: Drop by the newly-renovated library for a guided tour and scavenger hunt during this open house. Join the Library Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Library and the library staff for a full day of activities. There will be prizes and refreshments, too.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: , behind City Hall, just off Deerpath; 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (July 30).
  • Why Go?: Local farmers and specialty merchants sell local produce, seasonal fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy products, and more. Local chefs will sell a variety of treats like cupcakes, pies, cookies, dips, salsas, homemade granola, homemade marshmallows and more.
  • Pricing: Free admission.

  • Where/When: Rugan's, 621 Toft Ave., Antioch; 7 - 9 p.m.; Friday (July 22).
  • Why Go?: Admission price includes beer tasting, appetizers and one raffle ticket. Proceeds will benefit Save-A-Pet No Kill Adoption Center in Grayslake. Click here to buy tickets. Must be over 21 to attend. Pets are welcome.
  • Pricing: $15 for one person; $25 for two people.

  • Where / When: , 1060 E. Peterson Road, Grayslake; 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 29, 20 and 31).
  • Why Go?: The Lake County Fair features fun and entertainment for the whole family. There will be a stilt walker and magician, live music, expo center displays, talent shows, bingo, a petting zoo, queen pageants, livestock barns, demolition derby, pro motocross, horse shows, the radio disney road crew, a banana derby, a professional rodeo, carnival rides, truck and tractor pulls, an AG expo, 4-H exhibits, funpalooza stage, livestock auction, beer garden and fair and specialty food.   • Pricing: $10 for adults; $5 for children 5 - 12; Free for children 4 and under; $5 for seniors 65 and over; Free for military in uniform; $5 for military with ID; $35 for adult season pass; $15 for child season pass; $40 membership.

  • Why Go?: Hear the best voices of Gospel with Bishop Larry D. Trotter's Sweet Holy Spirit Choir and watch a performance by the Praise Dancers from throughout Lake County. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to all ages. If it rains, the festival will be held indoors.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: Village Green - Southwest Corner of Scranton & Center Ave; 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday (July 29).
  • Why Go?: Enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, summer blossoms and delicious baked goods at the 18th annual Lake Bluff Farmers' Market. Park near the Central Business District at the Walnut Avenue Parking Lot, the Train Station Lot and at Artesian Park.
  • Pricing: Free admission.

  • Where/When: ; 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (July 29-30).
  • Why Go?: CenterStage Lake Forest presents their summer musical which is sure to entertain the whole family. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 847-234-6062. 
  • Pricing: $25 at the door or $20 for adults and $15 for children, students and seniors if purchased online.
