Chamber of Commerce to Host Affordable Care Act Presentation

This month's Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce luncheon will feature a presentation on the Affordable Care Act and how employers can effectively brace for change in 2014.

The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 11:30 to 1 pm, at the Lake Forest Club in LakeForest.  The public is welcome.

Laura Minzer, Executive Director of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Council, will cover the act's impact on employers of all sizes and how they can prepare for the coming changes less than a year from now, including how the law defines employer size, employer coverage requirements, affordability of coverage and the new penalty treatments.  The session will also cover the new benefit options available to employers and their employees including the new health insurance exchange.
 
Laura Minzer currently serves as the Executive Director of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare Council, one of six business issue councils that serve as the Chamber’s primary resource for responding to and influencing healthcare policy. In that role, she serves as the Chamber’s lead on health reform, interpreting and responding to state and federal legislation and regulatory issues regarding implementation of the Affordable Care Act and other issues that impact the health insurance market and the broader healthcare system in Illinois.

The luncheon will be held at the Lake Forest Club, 554 N. Westmoreland Road in Lake Forest.  The event includes a delicious buffet lunch and the fee is $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members.  Reservations are requested by noon on Tues., May 14 - sorry, no refunds for cancellations after that deadline.
