Patch Passport: A Little Bit of Paradise At The Beauty Spot

The Monday Patch Passport takes you to a local spa where you can feel like you are a million miles away from the daily stress of life. Come along and relax...

It took me less than one month after moving to Lake Forest to learn about . Tucked away on Conway Road just off Waukegan Road, this full-service salon and day spa has rightfully earned its loyal following.

offers all the warmth and energy of a hometown hair joint coupled with the sophistication and level of service you expect from an urban spa. The clientele is local, all ages and never snooty or judgmental.

The staff is kind and warm, alleviating the awkwardness of even the most delicate of treatments. I like to think of it as a sisterhood of women helping other women to look and feel better.

From head to toe, you will find any beauty treatment you need. The salon offers myriad hair services, including cuts, styling, up-dos, relaxers and deep conditioning, as well as full service hair color.

Nails are also done upstairs where sunlight streams in from windows on both sides of the building. Many clients keep regular appointments with their favorite gal (my personal favorite is Yana, who consistently provides an amazingly long-lasting pedicure or manicure).

In my mind, you can’t pay anyone enough to scrape the dead skin off your feet. Here a basic hydrotherapy pedicure starts at $45, $48 if you want a French pedicure. If you’re short on time, you can always run in for a toe polish change for just $20. For manicures, the spa offers basic and specialty services, including tips, acrylic, silk and gel nail. A basic manicure is $20.

Full-body treatments are offered downstairs, where the soft lighting adds a soothing sense of privacy and relaxation. The facial treatment menu is expansive, with everything from microdermabrasion to enzyme deep cleaning to MediBac Clearing adult acne facials.

Likewise, the massage therapy services include everything from full-body therapeutic to reflexology to hot stone massages. Couple the muscle therapy with the body exfoliation treatments and you will leave feeling 30 years younger.

And let’s not forget the service that most of us dread: waxing. Thanks to Margaret, my first and all subsequent experiences have been absolutely bearable. She takes what can be a painful process (to both nerves and dignity) and turns it into just another treatment we as women rely on to look and feel good.

As with most spas, extends its clients a variety of specialty packages, perfect for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or I-just-feel-like-it Day.
