Wintry Weather on its Way to Lake Forest and Lake Bluff

Snow along with freezing drizzle could make for dicey driving conditions Thursday night and Friday morning. 

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of the Chicago suburbs with snow expected to start late Thursday afternoon and continue into the night before switching to freezing drizzle and light snow by early Friday. 

Between two and four inches of snow is predicted for Lake Forest and Lake Bluff late Thursday. Snow and freezing drizzle is expected before noon on Friday. Temperatures will reach a high of 35 degrees later in the day on Friday. 

"Anyone planning travel across Northern Illinois or Northwest Indiana should be prepared for wintry precipitation and associated travel impacts from this winter storm," according to the hazardous outlook posted on the NWS website. 

The same storm system is expected to drop over a foot of snow on some of the Plains states over the next day, according to the Chicago Tribune.

So far this season, Chicago has only seen a total snowfall accumulation of 10.9 inches, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

Thursday's storm is "likely to be not only the biggest storm of the winter so far, but also a very disruptive one" for the Chicago area, according to an Accuweather.com updated Wednesday.
