Another Big Year for the Lake Bluff Public Library

As the year comes to a close, I am happy to look back on the continued growth in both Library services provided and Library usage. To select a few highlights from 2013, the Library participated in the 2nd Annual Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Criterium Bike Race with its 1st Annual Library Chalk Art Contest. The exterior of the building received repair and/or repainting on its soffits, fascia, and flashing. A new landscaping project that furthers the Library's continuing goal to create a park like setting to reflect that of the Village Green on the other end of downtown was completed. Finally, the use of electronic resources, Library computers and WI-fi, and the use of many other services soared.

As the year closes, Lake Bluff can also look forward to more on the horizon from their hometown Library. A new online Catalog, Sierra, will go live at the Library this spring. In addition to being faster and more intuitive, Sierra will offer many new options to patrons. What I consider to be most exciting about the coming year, however, is that many of the great projects and programs we will be able to look back on next year have not been thought of yet.

Thanks to all, and a Happy New Year!
