Bike Tour of the North Shore Interurban Railway

Join the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society for a bike tour that commemorates the 50th
Anniversary of the closing of the North Shore Interurban, the electric railway
that ran between Chicago and Milwaukee making stops in all the communities
along the lake.

The tour takes place on
Saturday August 3, 2013 at 9:00 am and begins at the Historical Society museum, 361 East Westminster, Lake Forest.    The
tour will follow today’s bike paths through Lake Forest and Lake Bluff (along
McKinley, Sheridan, Route 176 and U.S. Highway 41) which were once the tracks
of the North Shore Interurban Electric Railway.
In addition to the history of the railroad, the tour will point out
extant features along the route.

Tickets are $5 and
reservations are required.  Tickets can
be purchased at www.lflbhistory.org or by calling 847-234-5253.   The tour lasts about 90 minutes and covers
about 8 miles.
