Women's Networking Luncheon: Volunteering in the New Year

Network with fellow women entrepreneurs and business owners at the Chamber's monthly Women's Networking Group lunch. Please note that, starting in January, the luncheon will be held on the third Friday of every month.

This month's guest speaker, Nini Lustig, the executive director of LakeCountyCares, will discuss volunteerism, specifically how to volunteer in the New Year, either through LCC-run outreach programs or at various social service agencies in Lake County.

Founded in 1967 by seven Lake Forest and Lake Bluff women, Lake County Cares was originally called the Volunteer Bureau of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff. This grassroots organization was established to help connect residents of the community with opportunities to serve and to help solve community needs through innovative programming. In 2009, the organization changed its name to Lake County Cares to better represent the communities it serves.  Today, Lake County Cares engages more than 16,000 volunteers in service a year and runs eight outreach programs addressing issues of hunger, literacy, homelessness, and individuals in transition.  The organization’s core service-free volunteer coaching (connecting individuals to opportunities to serve)-provides more than 120 Lake County agencies with the volunteers they need to continue their important missions.

Nini Lustig has been involved with the organization for 12 years, spending the last eight as Executive Director.

Lunch will be provided by Full Belly Craft Kitchen & Bakery of Highwood.
