LF-LB LDA Speaker Event: Spec. Ed 101 - IEP Process: A Parent's Perspective

Special Education 101:
IEP Process:  A Parent’s Perspective

Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) in cooperation with Lake Bluff School District 65 and Lake Forest School District 67 will sponsor an event to provide parents and families with a perspective on how to have meaningful involvement in the IEP meeting and a good collaborative perspective on the process.

The speaker will be Susan Hands, Coordinator of School, Family and Community Partnership and the Parent Mentor for the Northern Suburban Special Education District and the Illinois Stare Board of Education. She has conducted workshops for a broad spectrum of parent, teacher, staff and administrative groups on collaborative problem solving and effective communication strategies in the IEP process. She also frequently presents on parent leadership in education and provides individual consultative services to both parents and staff. Mrs. Hans is the parent of four children, one whom is still in school with an IEP.
