Resilient Woman Speaker Series Begins Oct. 30

The first
of four presentations in “The Resilient Woman Speaker Series” at Woodlands
Academy of the Sacred Heart is Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. at the school, 760
E. Westleigh Road, Lake Forest.

Dr. Lisa
Damour, director of the Center for Research on Girls at the Laurel School in Ohio, will discuss “Young Women and
Resilience.” This program is free and open to the general public.

Damour maintains a private
psychotherapy practice, consults and speaks nationally, is a clinical instructor at Case Western Reserve University, and serves on the advisory board
of the Eating Disorders Network. The author of numerous books and papers related to education and child development, she is a frequent contributor to
the Motherlode blog at The New York Times.

The theme
for the current school year at Woodlands Academy is The Resilient Sacred Heart
Woman. Graduating women of courage, confidence and compassion is Woodlands
Academy’s four-year goal.
