CCU Receives Financial Services Award At 2012 Midwest Urban Empowerment Banquet

Member-owned credit union recognized for its community outreach

Lake Forest, IL, May 16, 2012:  Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $610 Million, Waukegan, IL) was recently awarded the 2012 Financial Services Award at the Midwest Urban Empowerment Banquet.  The annual event is designed to celebrate those working for the betterment of the communities they serve.  The ceremony was held at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee, host by Community Connections Network (CCN) Publications and its affiliates.

The Midwest Urban Empowerment Banquet has recognized the efforts of individuals, organizations and businesses for their work and dedication in the field of community outreach.  This year’s categories include Education, Corporation, Philanthropy, Youth, Financial and Leadership in the African American, Latino, American Indian and Asian American communities.

“Consumers Credit Union is honored to be recognized by Community Connection Network,” noted Sean M. Rathjen CCU President.  “CCN and the Midwest Urban Empowerment Organization represent the ideals and values shared by the credit union.  We strongly believe working towards the development and improvement of local communities allows us to thrive and grow, both as individuals and as organizations. We are proud and humbled to have earned recognition for our community outreach.”

More than 600 people were in attendance for the 2012 Midwest Urban Empowerment Banquet.  Keynote speaker for the event was Stedman Graham, Entrepreneur and CEO of S. Graham & Associates.  Mr. Graham delivered a passionate speech about the responsibilities each of us have to work together for the betterment of everyone in the community.
