Lake Forest Preservation Foundation Celebrates 150 Years of Architectural History in Lake Forest

Join the Preservation Foundation as it honors our City’s 150th Anniversary

The Foundation is changing its venue for this year’s annual meeting.  Our annual meeting begins at 1:30 pm at Holt Memorial Chapel (park on the Lake Forest College campus). Following the brief meeting, you will be treated with a splendid program starting at 1:45 pm by our very own Arthur Miller and Susan Benjamin about the architecture in Lake Forest dating back 150 years ago.

In lieu of our regular awards program, the Foundation will have a walking tour fundraiser for our members and their guests by opening the doors of four very important homes rarely-viewed by the public.  All four 1860 vintage homes have historic significance in Lake Forest’s early beginnings.  Tickets can be picked up at the Chapel’s entrance as early as 12 noon before the afternoon events. The tour runs from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

At 4:30 pm for ticket holders, the Foundation invites you to a wine and cheese reception at the ‘modern’ 1908 Howard Van Doren Shaw–designed Glen Rowan house across from the Holt Memorial Chapel. This special afternoon is not to be missed.  The Foundation congratulates the City of Lake Forest on her 150th birthday.
