Volunteers Design New City Sticker

Lake Forest's 2013-2014 Vehicle Sticker features Gorton Community Center

When a Gorton board member received his Lake Forest vehicle sticker last April, he thought, “We should look into Gorton getting on there.”

Fast forward a year. When Lake Forest residents receive their renewal notices for their 2013-2014 vehicle stickers, they’ll discover that Gorton Community Center will be front and center on their stickers.

How did it happen? The board member conveyed his idea to the Gorton staff, and off to work they went.  Camila Quinteros, a Lake Forest College student who interned at Gorton, was called into action. Quinteros is a Grace Groner Foundation recipient at the college.  Jumping right in for her was fitting since the Groner Foundation’s mission is to assist students in gaining internship experience in the spirit of service to others.

John Reilly of John Reilly Photography, a local resident, donated the beautiful photograp used on the sticker. Then Camila Quinteros went to work designing the final sticker. Thankfully, the City of Lake Forest embraced the idea of highlighting its beloved community center.

The story of the vehicle sticker reflects the story of Gorton – people pitching in for a bigger cause.
