A few years ago Sharon Spear, a member of The Friendship Force of Eastern Washington and North Idaho, hosted Mitsuko Kawabata, a member of the Friendship Force of Ehime, Japan.

Mitsuko was Sharon’s houseguest for eight days during the Ehime club exchange to Liberty Lake, Washington.

The following year, Sharon traveled to Japan as an Friendship Force Ambassador and was welcomed by the Matsuyama City FF Club in Ehime, Japan. And who was her host? None other than Mitsuko Kawabata!

(There’s more…) A few months ago Sharon joined The Friendship Force of Northern Illinois on an exchange with Karsiyaka Bay, Turkey. Having arrived in Turkey, she stopped over in Cappadocia to enjoy a hot-air balloon ride which she thought would be a fun experience.

While waiting for her turn at the site, (you might guess where this is going--) who was unexpectedly there, also awaiting a balloon ride? Mitsuko!!

After the initial shock, the two friends fell into each other’s arms, then compared journeys.

Sharon’s club planned an outbound exchange to Ehime where she would again have an opportunity to meet with Mitsuko.

This friendship is surely destined to endure throughout their lives.
