Crab Tree Farm Paintings

Paintings of Crab Tree Farm by Local Artists
Through September 29th.

En plein air, a French expression meaning "in the open air," describes the act of painting outdoors.  Three local artists have shared their paintings of Crab Tree Farm in Lake Bluff with the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, some of which are painted under this method.

The exhibit is on display until September 29th and is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm.  Admission is free.  The artists are:

Katie Hale, Oil on Canvas

The play of light and shadows on the historic buildings at Crab Tree Farm perfectly lend themselves to Katie Hale’s love of Plein Air Painting.  Many inspired fall mornings were spent painting with the odd goose or hen wandering by.  A past student of local artist Diane Rath, Katie has also studied with noted Western Plein Air painters Matt Smith and Robert Grogan.

Jill Pilarski
, Oil on Panels

Jill Pilarski has loved art all of her life. She received a degree from California College of Arts in 1985 and has been painting with oils for the past 11 years. Jill studied with Diane Rath for 9 years. Her interests are in Plein Air, Still Life and Dog Portraiture.

Bart Woloson, Oil on Canvas
