I Love to Tap Dance

I love to tap dance in my poems

Or slide a neat glissade

Or take a spin to show I’m in

A mood for being mod

I’d do for you a pirouette that takes your breath away

And spin until the cows come home and night breaks into day

You’d be amazed to see how long I hold my leg up high

My backbend’s said to draw a host of disbelieving sighs

Yes, in my poems I’m twinkle toes, Ann Miller in my mind

And now my mental dancing is the only kind you’ll find.
