Community Update

Lake Forest is celebrating Japanese culture throughout the city as part of Lake Forest Reads: Ragdale, a one book/one community program sponsored by Lake Forest Library and The Ragdale Foundation. This year's title is The Street of a Thousand Blossoms by Gail Tsukiayama. It tells the story of two brothers who find their way in post-war Japan.

We've already had two wonderful talks with the author at Ragdale and the library as well as a traditional tea ceremony at Dickinson Hall. Join us for the last two events which will be held on the 27th and 28th of October in the Children's Activity Room.

  • The Music Institute of Chicago will have a Suzuki music presentation for families at the Library on Oct. 27th at 2pm.
  • Lake Forest College Professor Shi Wei Chen will have a lecture on 20th century Japanese History in the library on the 28th at 1:30.
