Carrie Chapman Catt Local Leadership Award

The Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters–Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area recently established the Carrie Chapman Catt Local Leadership Award, naming it in honor of the founder of the League of Women Voters in 1920.

Carrie Chapman Catt was a prominent leader in the fight for women's suffrage. With her great leadership and organizational skills, she was able to pressure Congress to pass the 19th Amendment.

The award will recognize a League member who has shown outstanding leadership and considerable action in promoting the League's mission. Current members of the Board are not eligible for the award.
