Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum was raked over the coals by the media because of a statement he made at a rally in Steubenville, Ohio. Santorum spoke the truth in suggesting that Global Warming was a religion of sorts.

Believers of Global Warming do seem to put "Mother Earth" above all else in a fierce dedication that is directed toward the worship of Mother Earth up and above what is best for mankind.

But instead of saving Mother Earth, they favor strict rules and regulations imposed on coal and oil which result in a crippled economy, while simutaneously they promote and foist inefficient, unreliable and more expensive wind and solar (and electric cars) upon the American people.  http://www.gopusa.com/news/2012/02/20/santorum-global-warming-is-politics-not-science/?subscriber=1

Even if coal and oil were to blame for climate change, what about Nuclear power as a safe, green, and cheap energy source to supply future energy needs.

Although two nuclear plants have recently been approved in the state of Georga, this nation has not been “Johnny on the Spot” in joining the world-wide Nuclear Renaissance.  http://www.energyandcapital.com/articles/us-begs-for-more-nuclear/173

Looking worldwide, and with very few exceptions, countries are continuing their commitments to nuclear energy, realizing that nuclear must be an integral part of their energy mix. Currently 60 reactors are being built worldwide.  None has been canceled as a result of Fukushima. China has more than 25 reactors under construction.

India, likewise, is not allowing itself to fall behind in selecting nuclear as a very important and necessary energy source.  India currently has 200 reactors but wants to double the number in the next two decades.  http://www.energyandcapital.com/articles/nuclear-industry-lives/1668

Unfortunately many of the 20 plants now in various stages of planning here in the U.S. will not pan out because of lengthy court tie-ups from environmental extremists, etc., who oppose Nuclear power.

Regarding wind and solar power, both are incapable of producing massive amounts of energy needed to fuel this nation now and in future years.  Hence, wind and solar will never be able to take the place of coal, oil, gas or nuclear power.  Both will ultimately fail when government subsidies no longer are available to prop them up.

Fresh in our minds is the propping up by the Obama administration of Solyndra with a $500 million loan, only to have Solyndra fail and go bankrupt.   As the story developed, Solyndra was not the only solar energy company that failed despite the infusion of billions in federal monies.

Europe is finally facing up to reality that wind power as a energy source is a "White Elephant."  All over Europe wind power is becoming an unfulfilled dream that is failing despite Europe's fervent quest to go green.    http://www.windbyte.co.uk/

Andrew Walden, in an article published at the American Thinker on February 15, writes about this nation's Wind Energy's Ghosts and how bankrupt Europe has a lesson for our Congress about wind power.  http://www.americanthinker.com/printpage/?url=http://www.america...

Despite the $4.3 billion in stimulus funds targeted to build 36 wind farms under section 1603 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, only 300 individuals are currently employed, certainly a poor use of tax payer monies!   http://www.aboutdci.com/2012/02/this-just-inthe-wall-street-journal-tallies-green-job-creation-from-stimulus-funds/

Unknown by me until I read an article by Julie Wernau in the Tribune on February 17 is that a deal to renew a tax credit for wind projects failed in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 16.  At least there are still enough clear and reasoned-thinking members left in Congress to do the right thing!

Sadly those in leadership positions here in Illinois have unconditionally accepted the unscientific claim that man-made Global Warming is for real.  Green energy has become the "in thing" in Illinois (wind and solar), which accounts for why Illinois is the U.S. headquarters to more than a dozen major wind companies.

As reported by Trib reporter Julie Wernau, "Immediately at risk in Illinois are 15 wind projects totaling 3,292 MWs that have county-level permits" (Speculated is that without the tax credits upon which their construction was dependent most will likely grind to a halt.).   http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-02-17/business/ct-biz-0217-wind-ptc--20120217_1_tax-credit-wind-power-wind-projects

Would Obama be greatly upset even if gas prices rose to $8.00 a gallon as long as he doesn't reap the blame at the polls in November. Probably not, because the high price of gasoline would accomplish what Obama is aiming for:  To wean this nation and its people from dependence on oil as a toxic pollutant of oil and instead foist upon them inefficient, unreliable and more expensive wind and solar, which, in turn, will convince consumers — out of necessity — to  purchase  electric cars which up to now most Americans have rejected.

In the eyes of many, the Obama administration is moving forward with little resistance. Little by little the White House is succeeding in its goal too exert more and more power and influence over the American people. In so doing the American people are losing bit by bit bit their liberty and the ability to make decisions that are best for them.

But Is change possible? Certainly it is, but not the change that 2008 brought to the American people with the election of Barack Hussein Obama.

But will the American people swallow what Obama has planned for them in his re-election bid as he presents a more down-to earth message and modest American dream in the promotion of what he perceives as the basic building blocks of middle-class economic security?http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/obama-peddles-modest-american-dream-5755251

I hope not. If Obama does succeed once again in fooling enough voters to win a second term, not only will middle class Americans fare badly, but all Americans will be privy to higher taxes and increased unemployment which will result in a less productive and prosperous America and, yes, continued high gas prices at the pump.
