New Physician Offices to Bring Improved Access

Lake County Residents will have even more access to Northwestern Memorial HealthCare physicians beginning in April.

Beginning in April, Lake County residents will have even more access to Northwestern Memorial HealthCare physicians.

Five additional physician offices are coming to the northern suburbs. For Lake Forest residents, that means being able to see their physicians closer to where they live and work.

“This model of care compliments the services of our hospitals by offering both primary and specialty care for our patients in their own communities,” said Thomas J. McAfee, president, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

Plans call for about 100 new primary care physicians and approximately 20 specialists from Northwestern Memorial Physician Group and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in these five suburban locations:

“We are excited about this expansion because it broadens access to the quality primary and specialty care that patients trust and that Northwestern is so widely known for,” said Dr. Daniel Derman, president, Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and vice president, Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Cardiology, dermatology, ENT, oncology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, neurology, urology and imaging are among the specialty services that will be provided.

“Many of our patients come from northern communities and up to now, they have had to travel longer distances for routine care. Our expansion brings the Northwestern care they seek closer to where they live or work, making access much more convenient,” said Dean M. Harrison, president and CEO, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare.  “In addition, a single electronic health record will allow physicians to follow their patients from location to location seamlessly.”

Northwestern Memorial Physician Group opened its offices on the campus of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in mid-2011.
