Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Receives Consumer Choice Award and Top Score for Patient Safety

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital has received the National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award for the Lake County/Kenosha County markets. The annual award is presented to hospitals that have been ranked as having the best doctors, best nurses, highest quality and image by healthcare consumers in more than 300 markets. 

Northwestern Lake Forest ranked highest in more categories than any other hospital in Lake and Kenosha Counties, and was named Most Preferred for all health needs for the 9th consecutive year.

Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrog Group. The nonprofit group assigns scores to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals as part of its Hospital Safety Score initiative, which focuses on providing patients and their families with an easy method for making informed decisions about where they receive health care. Scores are based on publically reported measures that are designed to track and reduce preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections.

The Hospital Safety Scores are compiled under the guidance of an eight-member Leapfrog Blue Ribbon Expert Panel of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety. The Hospital Safety Score uses a total of 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to evaluate a hospital’s overall capacity for keeping patients safe from preventable infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. The Leapfrog Group’s eight-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel includes representatives from University of Michigan, Stanford University and Johns Hopkins University.
