Northwestern Lake Forest Hosts Women's Health Seminar

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital will host a community seminar entitled Steppin’ Out for Women’s Health on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  This free, community education event includes dinner and cocktails with speakers on important women’s health topics, including heart health, diet, cancer prevention and screenings, hormones, exercise and more. 

 

The seminar will be held in the Health Education Center at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital at 660 N. Westmoreland Road in Lake Forest.  Space is limited; to register call Noelle Mauer at 847-535-7441 or visit lfh.org/steppinout.  Speakers include:

Tara M. Breslin, MD, MS, medical director of the breast care program at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and associate professor of surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  Breslin is an active, award-winning researcher, whose work on improving health outcomes, regional quality collaborations and breast care program development has been published in several leading medical journals. Before joining Northwestern Lake Forest earlier this year, she was co-director of the 25-hospital Michigan Breast Oncology Quality Initiative, the first statewide effort to examine practice patterns and compare methods with the guidelines of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.®

Ian Cohen, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is the medical director of cardiology for Northwestern Lake Forest and an assistant professor in cardiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His specialties include valvular heart disease, preventive cardiology and coronary artery interventions. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions.

 

Susan Shaw, MD, gynecologist at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  Shaw’s clinical focus includes all age groups; her practice focuses on pediatric and adolescent gynecology and menopausal health. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the North American Menopause Society and the national society of pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
