Obstetrician gynecologist Micah W. Garb, MD, FACOG, Has Joined Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital

Obstetrician gynecologist Micah W. Garb, MD, FACOG, has joined Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and will serve as the North Regional Medical Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group. He is a member of the medical staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Garb specializes in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, treatment of abnormal Pap smears and colposcopy, minimally invasive alternatives to hysterectomy, as well as all aspects of obstetrics and various conditions complicating normal pregnancies. Garb brings expertise in using the minimally invasive DaVinci Robotic System for gynecological procedures.  He sees patients in the Hunter Family Center for Women’s Health at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

“Dr. Garb’s many years of experience providing pre-and post-natal care is a tremendous asset for our obstetric patients,” said Michael G. Ankin, MD, FACP, FCCP, a pulmonologist at Northwestern Lake Forest and the hospital’s vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer.  “He also joins our growing gynecologic team that specializes in using the latest, minimally invasive technology for gynecologic surgery.”

Garb received his undergraduate degree in biology and philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Prior to joining Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group, Garb was in private practice since 2004 with Lake Shore Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the Michael Newton, MD Memorial Award in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, which is awarded annually to the resident who best combines clinical excellence with concern for social and emotional needs of the patient.
