Will Music Become Another Demand?

A question often asked: Our children are very busy with activities, will music become another demand?

To be clear, it has to be something the child wants. It cannot be imposed from the outside. The interest, the desire, the fun, which is what attaches them to the instrument, does not come from outside but must come from within.

So the answer to your question, where does an instrument fit into a child’s life? It begins with the teacher. They need a teacher that understands both the violin and the student. I am that teacher and I know how to bring the instrument to the child and the child to the instrument.

My experience as a teacher is to attach the child to the instrument in such a way that they create and master their own sound. They own the instrument. Once that happens, a sense of mastery – a sense of confidence bonds them to music-making. When this is accomplished, lessons are not a demand. The children embrace their instrument on their own so that the experience becomes fun, interesting, and desired.

Interested? We can talk about your child’s musical journey. September registration is beginning now. Call Donna at 847.721.1860.
