Joseph Hull, Award Winning Teacher, Dies at 55

Before finding a second career as a teacher, Hull was a corporate financier.

Joseph Daniel Hull, 55, of Lake Forest died suddenly at home Sunday.

Joe was born in Omaha to William and Mary Hull. He grew up with three siblings William Erik Byrne, David Hull and Bridget Hull. Joe graduated from Loyola Academy and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and Master of Management degree from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

After school Joe worked in corporate finance at Stone Container Corporation and Abbott Laboratories but what he really loved was working with children. He coached his sons’ teams in AYSO soccer and basketball, eventually sparking his passion enough that he returned to school to earn his Master’s degree and teaching endorsements through Barat College of DePaul University.

 He went on to teach mathematics and religion at St. Ferdinand School and Notre Dame High School for Girls in Chicago. He was recognized for outstanding work and excellence in Peer Ministry with the Archdiocese Award for Excellence in Catechesis and Youth Ministry.

He loved his sons and supported them in everything they did including Boy Scouts, football and lacrosse. He was a loyal fan of Syracuse football, basketball and lacrosse.

Joseph was a wonderful father to his boys Griffin and Garrett, and to Mary, a loving husband of almost 25 years.

 Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 17th at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18th at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. Interment will be private. Info - www.wenbanfh.com or (847) 234-0022.
