Susan O. Hood of Lake Forest, died at home April 8, 2014.
She was the loving wife of Lloyd C. Hood for 58 years; Mother of Lloyd III, Julia (Mark) Stone, David, and Sally (Donald) Mahan; Proud Grandmother of Madeleine and Camille Mahan, Will and Alina Stone and Tristan and Patterson Hood; Daughter of the late Mary and Lee Ostrander of Highland Park; Sister of Lee, Jr. and William Ostrander and Mary Elizabeth Donnelley.
Susan graduated from Highland Park High School and Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She was employed as a social worker for the Red Cross in Chicago, a travel agent and in retail.
After the family moved to Lake Forest in 1971, Sue became active in the First Presbyterian Church where she especially enjoyed being a lay liturgist. She also served as a precinct committeeman for the Republican Party. Her other interests included music, reading and playing bridge.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, April 11 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest (Deerpath at Sheridan).
Contributions would be appreciated to the church or to the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Senior Citizen Center.
