Lilly Upchurch, 11, ‘Angel on Earth’ Dies

Lake Forest resident "loved music and filled the hearts of everyone she know."

Lilly Elizabeth Upchurch, 11, of Lake Forest died peacefully Monday from prolonged illnesses.

She was born in Chicago and was currently attending the Kirk School in Palatine. She was an angel on earth whose laugh and love of music filled the hearts of everyone she knew, according to information provided by Wenban Funeral Home.

Lilly was the beloved daughter of Paul and Heather Upchurch of Lake Forest; cherished sister of Charlie; adored grand-daughter of Terry and Terryl Butwid of Pittsford, NY, and Therese Upchurch of Bartlett.

Lilly was the loved niece of Jennifer Butwid, Maribeth (Marty) Rahe, Peggy (Joe) Foderaro, Patti (Gary) Feracota, Steven Upchurch and Doris. She was the beloved cousin and friend to many including her loving companions, Ayda, Tad and Elmo.

A special thank you is given to the Kirk School, especially Maggie and Cindy, Dr. Susan Roth, her driver, Zeema, Anne Dunn of Lake Forest School District 67, therapists Nanci, Venessa, and Julia and all of the other care givers and friends who helped Lilly.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Mary, 175 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie.

Contributions in Lilly’s name may be made to The Kirk School, Lilly Elizabeth Upchurch Fund for Special Needs, 520 S. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067. Please make checks payable to “Kirk School”.
