Obituary: Jimmy Gutman, 93, Worked Until Last Year

The Lake Forest resident was a WWII vet and started the first Cub Fan Appreciate Day. He was golfing up until last week.

Age 93 ½ on February 7, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Georgann Stein and late Vola Frohman. Wonderful father of Tom (Joan Fishman) and the late Bill. Devoted grandfather and best friend to Adam and Matt Gutman. Brother-in-law of Roger (the late Rosemary) Pokrass. Sister-in-law Barbara Becker. Brother of the late Louise Rhodes. Uncle to Pam Weingarten (Dr. Robert), Andy Rhodes (Joanne), Ellen Wagner, Andy Pokrass and Julie Boe (Jonathan). Father-in-law of Myla Goldstick (Dr. Bruce), Douglas Frohman (Paula), Clay Frohman and grandfather to Sam and Will Goldstick, Johnny and Madeline Frohman. Good friends to everyone at Lake Forest Place where he lived for the last 7 years co-chairing the Garden Club and working on other committees.

Born and raised in Evanston, Il, owner, CJG Marketing Promotions until he retired at age 92. World War II Naval Officer (USS Woodworth 1943-46), Eagle Scout at age 13 and “Life Long” Cub fan (started the 1st Cub Fan Appreciation Day). “Jimmy” was at the driving range just last week with his golf partners hitting balls. He lived life to the very fullest – an example for all of us. He was a real doer his entire life and will be missed by everyone.
