Obituary: Thomas J. Moorhead

Thomas Moorhead of Lake Forest started his own publishing company and successfully launched more than 12 medical magazine titles.

Thomas James Moorhead, of Lake Forest passed away peacefully on the morning of Dec. 16, 2012. He was 82 years old.

Tom was born April 7, 1930 to Robert and Madeline (nee McGrath) Moorhead in  vanston. A graduate of Loyola Academy, he received his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and completed his business studies at Northwestern University.

Professionally he was very respected in the medical publishing industry. Tom started his own publishing company in 1979 called Moorhead Communications, Inc. and later Physicians Publications under which he successfully launched more than 12 medical magazine titles.

Tom was an avid golfer, and friend to so many. He enjoyed wonderful times with his family and the many years in Star Lake, WI. and Amelia Island, FL.

Tom is survived by his five children, Julie (Scott) Mercer, Michael, James (Sandra), Thomas (Kelli) and Steven (Rosie); 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Molly, Madie, Charlie, Natalie, McKenna, Danny, Patrick, Murphy, Cole, Jill and Fred.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jill Bucklin (nee Atwood) and his siblings, Mary Vernon, Robert and Ellen Gorman.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL 60045. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Church of St. Mary, 175 E.
