Richard Giesen, Business Leader, Dies

Long time Lake Forest resident was 83.

Richard A. Giesen, 83, a longtime resident of Lake Forest, died at home Friday surrounded by his family.

Giesen was a long time business executive in Chicago whose career included leading Field Enterprises and Continental Packaging Solution. He was also a director of GATX, Stone Container and J. Walter Thompson Advertising. He graduated from Northwestern University.

The beloved husband of Jeannine (nee) St. Bernard Giesen of Lake Forest, Giesen was also the cherished father of Rick (Lynn) Giesen of Chagrin Falls, OH, Laurie Giesen of California and Mark (Greta) Giesen of Chicago. He was also the adored grand-father of Lindsay, Spencer, Reggie, Soleil and Noah.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest.

The funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. Sheridan Road with a private interment at Lake Forest Cemetery.
