Services Set for Nancy Burns

Nancy Lee (nee Werhane) Burns, lifetime resident of Lake Forest, passed away Oct. 16 at Advocate Condell Medical Center.  

She was born on Sept. 24, 1929 in Lake Forest. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Lake Forest High School, and attended MacMurray College. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for many years. In her retirement she enjoyed summers at her cabin “Windrush” in Phelps, Wis. She was most recently a resident of Autumn Leaves Alzheimer’s and Memory Care in Vernon Hills.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Leonard C. Burns in 2011. She is survived by her children Sharon (the late Fred) Glody, Susan Burns, Cynthia (Wayne) Carlson, Tim (Trish) Burns, Jennifer (Guy) Frederiksen, and Tom Burns; her grandchildren Monica (Matt) Magruder, Matthew (Christina) Frederiksen, Gregory Frederiksen, Brett Glody, T.J. and McKenna Burns, and her great grandchildren Beau Magruder, Ada and Lucas Frederiksen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Elizabeth Jackson Werhane and her brothers, Charles and Jerry.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at Lake Forest Cemetery. Call (847) 234-0022 or visit www.wenbanfh.com for more information.
