Are our fine Police and Firemen going bye-bye??

I must be oblivious!  I heard today that our Police and Fire Department are going to be consolidated into the Glenview Police and Fire Department.  So what does this mean for LF and LB residents and business owners?  Will we no longer have these departments in our towns?  What becomes of the properties and the fine young people who protect us every minute of everyday?  What about the residents' needs?  Is 911 going to be dispatched from Glenview and take 20 minutes to get here?  I've been told this is going to happen and am not liking it--in fact this is very disturbing.  LF and LB are not exempt from crime or emergencies in todays world.  If anything we need our protection more today than ever before!!  Is this all true?? Could we as residents stop this consolidation from happening?
