Forest Park Beach: Suggestions/observations
1. Open up the wooden walk at the south end. That would be far safer than forcing people to walk down the auto/boat ramp. There is actually a worn path to the walkway. I can duck between the two boards, but I think the boards should be removed entirely.
2. I saw at the last Parks and Recreation meeting on May 20th that the beach operates at a $50,000 loss for tax payers. Why do we need to hire 3-4 high schoolers to stand at each entrance? I know Mary Van Arfdale likes to spend taxpayer money like a drunken sailor, but I'm pretty sure we don't need such a big staff of stand-arounds. Lifeguards, yes. Book-readers, no.
3. Isn't there a better handheld device that can be tossed a distance, in addition to the ring near the flag pole? Or, something like this: http://www.gizmag.com/longreach-james-dyson-award-winner-2010/16575/ or this: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/rescue-drone-drops-life-preservers
4. The binocular scopes are not collimated. Could someone get that fixed? I'd like to see some bikinis, er, speedos, er, moon-craters in 3 D please!
