GOP Lucheon and Lecture April 5th at Exmoor

On Saturday, April 5th, the Women’s Republican Club of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff is sponsoring its first “Republican Women Think for Themselves Luncheon and Lecture Series” with guest speaker Maggie Gallagher at Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park.  Festivities  kick off at 11:30 with cocktails and guest appearances by Attorney General Candidate Paul Schimpf and other GOP candidates.

Maggie Gallagher will be speaking on:  “Gay Marriage:  What Happens Now and Why it Matters”.   For 25 years Maggie has been a thought leader on life, religious liberty and especially marriage.   A weekly syndicated columnist, Maggie’s writing has appeared in a variety of publications ranging from the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times to scholarly journals such as the Notre Dame Journal of Law and Public Policy.  She is the author of four books: Enemies of Eros (Bonus Books, 1989); The Abolition of Marriage: How We Destroy Lasting Love (Regnery 1996); The Case for Marriage: Why Married People Are Happier, Healthier and Better-Off Financially (Random House, 2000 with University of Chicago Prof. Linda J. Waite); and Debating Same-Sex Marriage (Oxford University Press, 2012, with Prof. John Corvino).

After founding and running a think-tank on marriage (the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy), Maggie went on to co-found the National Organization for Marriage in 2007 which grew to a $10 million organization in a few short years.   Her Weekly Standard piece “Banned in Boston” launched a national debate over the religious liberty consequences of same-sex marriage. Her extensive public speaking ranged from debates at Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to meetings with Senators, grassroots activists, donors and religious leaders and major television and radio appearances.
