We ask. You answer. Join us in the online discussion. Share your experiences. Ask questions.

Making your lunches both healthy and creative for your child is no easy task.

Or is it?

With childhood obesity on the rise, the importance of a healthy lunch is forging a departure from the reliable sandwich to servings of fruit and vegetables, and easing off the sugar.

And how about getting your kids more involved in the process. Ownership may lead them to eating all of it.

I'm all ears on this one. Recently I saw celery sticks filled w/ Laughing Cow Cheese & dotted w/ raisins for a non-peanut butter "ants on a log". I thought that was fun. I try to change up the fruits and veggies so they're not always eating the same thing. Does anyone do interesting wraps? I'd love to hear.

Love these creative ideas! Unfortunately, at the age my kids are, they want the same tried and true lunch, PB&J, fruit, cookies and chips. Major deja vu, same lunch I had when I was growing up!! I've tried to mix things up, but they don't like it, don't eat and it gets wasted. Most important to me is that they eat something for lunch at school, so I give them what I know is going to get eaten. Breakfast, after school snack and dinner is where I make sure they get their more nutritious meals. I wish I could say they were making there own lunches... HS Senior, and I'm still making his lunches every morning!

I make my high schoolers lunch every day also Robin! But it beats the alternative which would be them eating poorly at school. They all eat very traditional lunches too. There is always fruit, chips, a sandwich and a cookie. The sandwiches range from peanut butter to just a raisin cinnamon bagel. I know that once they leave the "nest" they will probably eat poorly, so I try to feed them healthy food EVERY chance I get.
