Potential Teachers’ Strike Has Ripple Effect.

See what a Chicago Tribune columnist writes about what a strike there could do to some students.

Should the Lake Forest Teachers strike at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 12 if no deal is reached with the District 115 Board of Education before that, it will mean the cessation of Scout interscholastic sports until the educators go back to work.

With a potential teachers’ strike possible in Chicago as well, Chicago Tribune columnist David Haugh wrote today about the anxiety of a pair of Chicago athletes. Do some of the Scouts feel the same way?

He explains how it effects not just football players, but swimmers, golfers, runners volleyball players and others. Lake Forest has all of those teams. To read the entire column click here.

School is for learning and not for athletics. This is totally irrelevant.

LOL - Me, you are so predictable. Really you need to get a life. All you do all day long is respond to the Patch articles. School is for learing and not for athletics. Obviously, you are some old crabby trol who sits in his mansion and spends his day all negative and crazy about teachers strikes. It is almost amusing at this point to read your relatively unintelligent rants. LOL!

Well, they mailed out fee notices for football - will those be prorated based upon the number of weeks / games the kids actually get to play?

@preditable - "relatively unintelligent" is an interesting phrase. Did you coin that yourself?

@Me, seriously you have some sort of emotional problem. Any sane normal person doesn't spend all day long screaming and yelling about this stuff. Maybe you should call a friend and go to a movie. Oh yea, probably not a lot of friends so makes sense why you need to spend all your time on here.

@needalife/predictable - Based upon the writing style I am guessing that you are the same person. I assure you that I am a "sane normal person" but thank you for your concern. If you were a taxpayer in this community and in this state, you should be aware of our impending fiscal crisis that is in large part attributable to the irresponsible spending habits of our elected officials. Since the unions have paid lobbyists who keep the heat on on behalf of the teachers, it is the job of us as taxpayers to maintain the heat on behalf of ourselves.
I don't expect you to agree with this or even to understand it. For all I know, you are a teacher writing under a pseudonym or the child of a teacher trying to defend your parent. Regardless, feel free to continue to mock me, it really doesn't hurt my feelings. In fact, it is rather flattering that you feel so strongly that you have written a response. TTFN
