Who or what are you thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Hope you have a good day with family and friends.

Plus it's supposed to be above freezing. So if we get hit by snow next week, remember this day.

I'm hoping you can take a minute today between meals to write a sentence or two about what you have to be thankful for.

I know I am thankful for having moved back here four years ago from Phoenix. That gave me an opportunity to spend some quality time with my Mom, who passed away this past summer at 88.

I miss her, but I will always be thankful to be her son.

Your turn.

Dear Jim, I imagine this Thanksgiving will be difficult for you. I lost my mom last year, too (after my dad & 2 brothers :-). But, like you, we find so much to be thankful for, don't we? I am thankful that I am married to my best friend (almost 30 years!), have healthy children and grandchildren. I am thankful that I had the advantage to be born in the greatest country in the world with all its advantages - that have allowed me to get an education and work to improve my life. There's a lot more...but in general, just thankful to be safe and healthy.

Absolutely. You were blessed to have those people in your life, and you still have wonderful people surrounding you now.

JIm, I am thankful for my family and their support and love that they demonstrate all year round. Because of them, I am able to run the Holy Family Food Pantry in Waukegan and make a difference in many lives. Without all of the dedicated volunteers that help me there, this also would not be possible. We sent home over 400 holiday meals this week to those families in need. I am so thankful to be a small part of the goodness and generosity that Lake County residents demonstrate on a daily basis. Thank you for making this venue possible for us to share the good news of Lake County. Barb Karacic
